What do I do after I pay off a ticket holding my license?

  • I finished paying off a $800 ticket last Friday, 2-13-09, that was holding my license. What do I do now? Will the court send a notice to the DMV that I paid off the ticket so they can release my license? If so, how long until the DMV releases it? I have been told to go back to the courthouse and PAY ANOTHER $10 for an abstract of my license; but I can not go to court again because they close at 4:30 and I get off of work at 4:15, is it really necessary to pay for this abstract? Can't the courthouse just let the DMV know I paid the ticket in full? Thanks.

  • Answer:

    You need to follow whatever procedure you are asked to follow. Not doing so will only delay your license being returned.

Ive always heard you need the abstract, just something they DON"T tell you when you pay your fines, I needed one over 12 years ago to get my license released.
