Is the school allowed to search my phone?

When my child (14) was getting searched almost weekly, my husband went to the vice and told him to call us from now on before a search. The vice said he did not need to notify us at all because by law in a public school the school actually has temporary custody of your child. Of course my husband went off on him and we put her in a different school.(new school better) I don't know if what the vice said was true but he sure was a @%&#! So if they can take custody of your kid than they can do what they want with your phone

Yes, you brought it onto school property. They are only not allowed to search it if it is turned off.

since it was in school they an take your phone away. but they are not allowed to take it away...your pose to take the battery or the sim card out.. you can file a complaint but not much can happen since you were in the wrong for using it during school... if they try punishing you for what was in the phone then you can most definitely get them in trouble for it..

whatever you bring into school can be searched including you. that's what helps keep the schools safer. it also doesn't matter if your phone was off. it's like crying because they took your smokes even though you weren't smoking. it is what it is. however, they can not keep your phone. your parents can pick it up if they don't give it to you
