Do You Know When The First Open-Heart Surgery Was?

A doctor performed surgery on the wrong part of my eye. What legal problems are there?

• I went to have surgery done to remove a cyst from my eye. At the previous office visit, the Dr. and I went over what I wanted taken out. When I went to have the surgery done, she removed something from my eye. Problem is, I dont know what she removed, but it wasn't what we talked about before the surgery. I tried telling her twice before the surgery and she assured me everything would be OK. Afterwards, I realized she had performed surgery on the opposite side of my eye, while leaving the cyst in my eye. She told me that I could come back another time to have another surgery. I was fumed. So here's the dilemma: I don't really want to sue anybody, I just want my eye correctly fixed. What I'm worried about is whether I am protected or not for the first surgery. to make a longer story short, she said I could come back in a few days and have the cyst removed free of charge. I am just worried about the other part of my eye now. What if my eye stays bloodshot forever? What if it gets infected? Should I accept the 'free' surgery or does that count as some sort of 'payment' back to me? Can it come back to haunt me, legally speaking? I don't know if I should go ahead with the second surgery if I have no legal recourse. She seemed awfully friendly after she realized her error.

  My dentist did the same kind of thing. yeah, shot a bunch of novacaine in the wrong side of my mouth and jaw. and then acted like he had to do some trivial work on that side to cover his mistake, but i new better. i had no cavity or anything else for he just made the mistake of wrong side and who paid for it ? ME. and my tooth that had to endure this fake sanding and drilling for a second or two. what a deal. what did this doctor say she removed from your eye? besides whitewash?
