What are the requirements to get your California Guard Card?

• Are there certain things you can't have on your record that would effect getting your card? I spent 3 1/2 months in Orange County Jail on misdemeanor theft charge last year (2010) would that effect my live scan process? It's understandable if it would because no one would hire a security guard at any shopping center if he had theft priors. But I'm looking to get my guard card to be working at clubs, and bars. If someone can please provide the information that I'm requesting, it would be appreciated. Thank you

  The background check for getting an initial guard card does check for any criminal history. I know people that have been denied due to past petty thefts. Since this one is quite recent, and you actually did jail time, it will come up and you will probably get denied a guard card. Sorry but this is the way it is. You can appeal it, but you will need to show that you are a changed person and usually that takes time, a few years and a good solid work record. Again I have known guard that got denied, appealed, and then successfully receieved their cards so it is possible.
