Hours I can work in Michigan during school at 16.
-
I am 16 years old and I live in Michigan. I get excellent grades. I just started a fast food job and I want to continue working during the school year. I know legally I can work 48 hours in a combined school and work week. I go to school from 7:19am -2:17pm Monday-Friday. Technically, only 6 hours in classes though once you exclude lunch and breaks. So would that mean I go to school 30 hours a week (6 actual class hours) and I can work 18 hours? And of those 18 hours, if I were to work 20 hours with 4 30 minute breaks, would that be legal? Is there any way I can work more hours legally? I know I can work longer with an hours deviation, but can I work more hours?

Answer:
I'd say check with your county they more than likely have legal ages and hours per week that teens are allowed to work.. best of luck
