Where can I get my ID in Texas?

How can I get a Texas birth certificate if I do not have a picture ID or SS?

  • I was born in Houston TX but since 1 year old I was raised in another country. I do not have US passport (though I had it when I was taken out of US but nobody wants to tell me where it is) or any other government ID. Now I need the birth certificate, but another issue is that when my mother married again she changed my last name and my present citizenship card from the country where I live has that new one. PS: My mother is not an option. I do not even know where she is

  • Answer:

The Texas Department of State Health Services has a helpful website. It tells persons how to obtain a copy of their birth certificate.

Other answers

Go to the town or hospital where you were born to ask about getting a copy of your birth certificate. If you have a passport from another country or an ID or credit card then you can use that as an ID. Or call social security and ask them about how to get a US SS number.
