Is it easy to get a job overseas as a doctor?

Would I be able to legally get a doctor to write a note to help me leave my job?

  • I work in the world's busiest airport for a retail store. I've been there for a year and 9 months now. I've been sick with colds, flus, herpangina, chicken pox (adult - absolutely horrible case), strep throat 7 times and other issues. I'm now basically sick and have been to 4 different doctors at 2 different primary care facilities. My current doctor, I've been to twice. He couldn't figure out what was wrong the first time. The second time, he did a strep test and a bunch of stuff. Basically, I've been having issues with my throat for 2 months. It has turned into this cough that is every few minutes, lots of phlegm, etc. The airport is incredibly dusty - literally, you can wipe a computer screen off at night and 6 hours later, you can write your name in it. My doctor said he thinks I have bad allergies from the dust of the airport in general. It seems to get worse the longer I stay, and I've reached a point to where they can't seem to help me. I'm taking a steroid that my doctor gave me for swelling in my throat. I'm also on a prescription Zyrtec for allergies. I'm looking for another job ASAP - I literally lay awake at night, coughing every few minutes all night for days. Would I be able to get a doctor to write a note generally stating my conditions and that it is caused by my workplace's environment and that it is recommended for me to leave there? I'm leaving, regardless...I just would like something to back it up, if I can get it. My company is not very understanding and is hardheaded about a lot of things.

  • Answer:

you're allowed to quit anytime you want. You don't need a doctor's excuse to quit, just quit. One doctor's note, based entirely on your statements isn't binding for anything.

Your doctor can write all the notes he wants; there's nothing wrong with that legally. Doctors frequently compose routine correspondence to inform other doctors of the conditions of referral patients, and to inform employers of their associates' health restrictions, etc. This isn't a question of legality; it's a question of what your doctor wants to do. Call his office and explain to his staff your situation. Then ask if he will be willing to write a letter recommending that you leave your current job for health reasons brought on by the environment there. If he doesn't want to do it, there's not much else you can do. If he does, great. But really, if you want to quit a job, just quit. If you go shoving a letter like that in the face of prospective employers, to show them you only quit your last job because you HAD to, you're never going to get hired, because they're going to assume that you'll have attendance problems, and that you're obviously not afraid to get a doctor to back you up on them.

I would say that depends on your doctors RECORDS . You cant just walk in and say my job is making me sick . BUT , if you actually have had GONE to the doctor numerous times and been actually diagnosed with stuff MORE than normal he might help . Id say it all falls on the records of your visits .

Yes, you can. It will take some doing because doctors hate to get in the middle of these things. Talk to a lawyer that specializes in workman's comp. If your workplace makes you sick, and you can get your doctor (or the lawyers)to show that this wasn't a problem for you before, you may actually have a suit. Any building that is that dusty has some problems with its ventilation system or ducts. Any workplace needs to be reasonably safe and clean.

if you are wanting to do this so you will be able to get unemployment, you should be able to.. if your word area is making you sick, then the doctor should be able to tell that and be able to let your work know..
