Legality of composite knives?
-
I have a fixed blade zytel knife that I picked up at a gun show in Tennessee, where I live. Zytel is a hard plastic type material. The blade is under 4 inches. My friend also bought one, had it clipped inside his boot and he said a cop saw it and told him it was illegal to carry these because you could get in serious trouble if you were to try and board an airplane or walk into a courthouse or anything with a metal detector. Sounds logical, but is it really illegal to be carrying it on your person for protection, say walking to your car at night in a dark parking lot? I like it because it's light, I do have it concealed in a jacket pocket because I can't fit this thing in my jeans pocket. So is is it legal to carry these? And also is it legal to have it in my coat pocket (chest)
