What is AFFIDAVIT?

Could someone explain what an affidavit is?

  • I am trying to get my record expunged, and part of hte process is getting an affidavit from myself that I'm keeping my nose clean, and from two people that I don't get into trouble..... what do I do?

  • Answer:

A formal legal document containing written statements of legal significance that are being sworn to under oath by the author of the document, who is known as the "Affiant." The act of signing the Affidavit, and of swearing under oath that the statements it contains are true and correct to the best of the knowledge of the Affiant, is done in the presence of a Notary Public.

it's a written declaration upon oath made before an authorized official.... do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you monkeys

An affidavit is nothing more than a letter describing how you have kept your nose clean, and letters from your friends telling how they know you have kept your nose clean. Put them on legal stationary instead of notebook paper. It looks better.

A written declaration under oath.
