Does the fire department use the lie detector?

I have heard that most government agencies use the lie detector test to weed out candidates. I want to see if they use it for the fire department. I have used weed before and maybe a couple others, nothing that bad, but I wanted to see what they do to hire potential candidates. Any help is appreciated.
