Today the Federal and ALL state governments pay for pension plans for all government employees.?
-
Why are we doing this? There are few companies today that are paying for pension plans, rather they are helping their employees obtain 401K plans. I do not believe we should be paying for pension plans. A lot of guidelines have been developed in the past 10 years to support 401K plans. Will you work to eliminate pension plans? In addition, Will you work to ensure that everyone pays into Social Security, no exceptions? In my mind allowing other Pension Plans to be exempt from paying into Social Security has made it insoluable. Do you agree?

Answer:
Your right, and they also get payed more salary then the average private person. We all LET this happen, but YOU can do something. Vote out those that will continue this practise. Talk to your neighbors, and friends. Write your Congressmen and women. Voice your opinions in newspapers. Get involved.

You are a liar. Government emplioyess pay into their own pension plans. And they DO participate in Social Security. http://voices.yahoo.com/tales-exaggerate-congressional-pay-pensions-10609845.html?cat=37

State laws vary, Some states are fully funded, other states retirement plans are similar to private enterprise firms, where the employee has to contribute out of their salary a portion to the fund, they have no control over it as they would a 401k, generally these are annuity type pensions. In my state as example educators pay into both 6.5 % into social security and 8.1% into their pension out of their salary. This often precludes them from money's they could use for privatized retirement, because the law mandates they contribute. The states that are in trouble financially with pensions are the ones that are not right to work states and unions are running roughshod over them. I do believe employee should put their own money aside, not the taxpayer. There are models of this in many states. I would recommend you do some research before you lay whole sale venom on people. I've been in the private sector for a long time, but have worked in the public sector and know a little bit about it.
