How to go about getting a new birth certificate without ID?

I need help getting my birth certificate or identification card.?

• I recently got kicked out of my house and am now living with my ex-boyfriend and his family. They contacted my dad and have guardianship of me. My biological mother says she doesn't have my birth certificate and never had it, even though she showed it to me. How do i go about getting one or the other. I went to a website and they said I need an ID to get an birth certificate, but in the state of Iowa (where i live) I need a birth certificate in order to get and ID. I was born in Virginia Beach, VA. Can anybody help me?

  Lets start this from a very simple position. 1. Do you have the full legal name of your mother and date of her birth. 2. Do you have the full legal name of your father and the date of his birth. 3. Your state you were born in Va, Beach Va. All that is required for you to do is contact the County gov. in Va, Beach. Tell them you need a copy of your birth certificate that is on file. pay the fee and they will send you your birth certificate. At your age. I'm thinking under 18. You should have a Social Security Number. If that is correct, when you receive your BC, take your ssn and BC and get yourself a State Photo ID card.
