Do they do drug tests in Paramount's Great America?

Do you think Republicans have gone ballistics simply because of the President?

  • http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/03/23/2130397/gov-rick-scott-orders-random-drug.html Granted that (unfortunately) Democrats tend to show their weakest face the minute the country really starts leaning on them for help, but something must shake them out of the stupor and get them to do something. I'm pretty sure all this ferocious and unprecedented attacks on teachers and unions and others in Wisconsin and many other Republican governor-states is simply that Republicans have sworn to each other or at least to themselves that there'll be no more Democrat President for decades to come. I also believe they're doing this for the simple fact that Obama is black. Most people do not wish to believe this but it all points to the fact that Reps are deeply hurt that this man got to the White House; how else can anyone explain that all the absurdities and horrors of "stomped on freedom", and "you will be told what to do and what to eat and where to go" as trumpeted night and day (radio and FOX Cable) by Glenn Beck, is turning into reality??? EXCEPT that it was not the "communist-doctrined", "Chicago-ganster", "friend-of-pastor-who-said-America-is-Ev… President, but the completely holier-than-thou, freedom-of-speech, Don't-tread-on-my-rights-flag-carrying fanatics who have come upon America in a wave of cynicism and lies! I cannot believe no one is raising up their voices on this?!!!! P.S. In case LINK doesn't open, the news is about Florida Rick Scott wanting to make just about everyone get a random drug test....I say "everyone" because in Florida there's only three types of people: Welfare-recipients; Retirees; and Government-employees. So, aside the retirees just about everyone will be either paying for these tests out of their pockets, or worse yet (like one of the comments says at bottom of news) this Governor, which by the way his previous company stole $300 million from Medicare and although he got fired he didn't leave before taking with him a contract from the company and millions in severance pay!!! In all probability he already has a private company lined up to get the million dollar contracts for these tests which apparently will cost millions to tax payers (for the 100,000 Florida government employees to be tested).

Give'em hell Louise.

First of all, you must understand the legislative process. The governor doesn't have the authority to just make a decree and it is automatically law. It has to go through many layers of checks and balances before the governor can sign it into law. This doesn't mean that bad laws will not come around occasionally, but just don't assume that the governor is solely responsible, as the Senate and other legislative bodies have to approve it first. Second, many large corporations already have mandatory drug tests for new employees, so what is the big deal with the state government doing the same thing. No one is forcing people to work for the government, and if you disagree with their policy then don't apply. Or better yet, don't do drugs and you won't have a problem. Third, who pays for it? Well, the highest estimate of $3.5 million is a large number, but on a cost-benefit analysis approach it might make sense to give employees an incentive to not use illegal drugs. This will do many things, including increase productivity, discourage the drug trade, etc. Also, $3.5 million is nothing compared to the entire state budget, and compared to some other very questionable funding projects this one looks like it makes a lot of sense. Of course the taxpayers pay for this, that's how our system is set up. If anyone is complaining about government spending and yet you still support many of the democrats agendas then you are very mistaken and ignorant. Personally, I think that both democrats and republicans are extremely misguided, and I would like to see a new wave of fiscally responsible politicians, who are not just simply glorified lawyers, but rather entrepreneurs and experienced businesspeople who have experience with the idea of BALANCING A BUDGET!!!! About your rant on Obama and republicans not wanting another democratic president, etc.; I really couldn't follow what you were trying to say, but I can tell that you are frustrated, as I am too. Lets hope that all politicians get more responsible and maybe we can keep the title of THE GREATEST NATION ON EARTH. We shall see...
