  Some were Remember this tribe Cherokee sided with the Brits in both wars A Jackson made mention of this The Brits betrayed them and never mentioned them in both peace treaties [1776 and 1812] Thus the trail of tears Not all had to leave those that had deed to land stayed As an aside there were over 2000 black slaves on the trail of tears as the American Indian would not do women's work This policy was the same as the Brits had in place for 150 years move the Indians out west The Mexicans pushed them north or just shoot them on sight A Jackson is hated by the Cherokees to this day But what was of interest to me he and his beloved wife raised a Cherokee boy as their own The Indian remove act was a long and hard fought court battle and A Jackson won out at 1st the tribal leader signed on to it The cost to the U S was considered high much of the trip was by boat The U S government agreed to provide them with transportation supplies and money The Cherokee were push out by the Iroquois up north and came down and pushed out the Choctaws.Life was not a bed of roses for any one at that time
