Should the United States to take an active role in drug policies of other nations?

  • Is it appropriate for the United States to take an active role in drug policies of other nations and to what extent? Take a position Countries such as Colombia will not approve of "trying" to change there drug policy US should just stay out of other countries affairs. Have to debate the No side The United States has the war on drugs which is already a big problem to deal with. Why would the United States even take an active role in the other nations when it is already a Huge problem here. The Money/Cost already spilling out money for the drug problem in the US why would the US spill out money. The US is already participating with the other nations per se with the drug policy because where else would the drugs be coming from ? I was wondering for more ideas towards the No side Thanks!

    Yes i think so because if drugs were legal in Mexico for example there would be no drug wars.

we can barely handle our own "drug war", i doubt we would really get anywhere on our own. But we defiantly need to work with the other country's with drug problems that affect our country. one step at a time or we'll be imposing ourselves on other country... they love it.

The US should interfere with other nations' domestic policies as little as possible. The US could better solve the drug problem by changing its approach, to emphasizing treatment instead of prison for drug users. No one is going to admit they have a problem if it will only put them in prison. In addition, the drug problem is a symptom of greater problems in American society, such as the breakdown in family life.
