The house bill is not Obama's plan so how is it anti Obama to be against it?
-
I want what President Obama wants a heath plan that is budget neutral, bi partisan, cuts cost, and improves care ( these are President Obama's words repeated in his last three town halls). The house bill an senate bills do not do that according to the CBO. The majority has rejected all minority amendments and even most Blue Dog amendments. How can working to kill a bill that does not meet President Obama's own stated goals be considered anti Obama or hoping the president to fail?

Answer:
I think people associate any action done by the government to be the presidents responsibility. so when congress does something people don't like, they get mad at the president because, let's face it, a lot of americans don't understand politics these days. so disagreeing with something done by government receives the same judgment: you're obviously disagreeing with the president. does that make sense?

The thing about Obama that makes him different is that he knows that the Health Care Reform is not about him, it is for all the people who have lost their jobs and consequently their insurance coverage, those who are "unacceptable" to the for profit Insurance companies because of a preexisting condition, those who insurance companies have wrongly denied their claims for the sake of profit, and those who's policies were dropped for "technicalities" which were inconsequential while they were not needing medical care. There are 3 or more proposials being considered at this time. It may not be possible to achieve bi partisan with the Health Care Reform. Bi partician requires a willingness to compromise withiin reason and it seems that the GOP is playing the same as they did when President Clinton tried to have a Health Care Reform 16 years ago right down to the very same players. August 14, 2009 False ‘Death Panel’ Rumor Has Some Familiar Roots By JIM RUTENBERG and JACKIE CALMES WASHINGTON — The stubborn yet false rumor that President Obama’s health care proposals would create government-sponsored “death panels” to decide which patients were worthy of living seemed to arise from nowhere in recent weeks. But the rumor — which has come up at Congressional town-hall-style meetings this week in spite of an avalanche of reports laying out why it was false — was not born of anonymous e-mailers, partisan bloggers or stealthy cyberconspiracy theorists. Rather, it has a far more mainstream provenance, openly emanating months ago from many of the same pundits and conservative media outlets that were central in defeating President Bill Clinton’s health care proposals 16 years ago, including the editorial board of The Washington Times, the American Spectator magazine and Betsy McCaughey, whose 1994 health care critique made her a star of the conservative movement (and ultimately, New York’s lieutenant governor). With all due respect, if there is a better solution then the time for the Republicans to DO SOMETHING was after defeating the efforts of President Clinton to solve the problems. With a Republican in the White House and a Republican Majority in Congress for the first six years of his Bush's Presidency passing a reform bill would have been a piece of cake. Now that Obama has taken upon his Administration to try once more to reform Health Care-NOW the GOP again agree that there needs to be reform, just not THIS one. Well it has been put off LONG ENOUGH. And why would anyone think that there is any interest by Republicans in this issue other then political posturing for the sake of better election results? You bet people are skeptical about anything the current politicians do. With the stimulus bill the Republicans were opposed to it in a number of ways. Then compromises they demanded were made and it appeared that both parties were working together at last. When it came time for the vote it was appearent that a bait and switch had been pulled with only 2 Republicans and 1 Liberaterian voting yes. The perception that the the opponents to the health care reform are anti-Obama is because they refer to the proposals as "NObama" care even though there is no single proposal any were near ready enough for a vote. They yell that Obama is a (fill in the blank) that is trying to destroy the best health care in the world. And if the Health Care Reform is blocked AGAIN neither party can declare a victory. The back lash towards both easily could anger voters enough to reject both parties and seek out 3rd party replacements for 2010 and 2012 elections. And the vast majority are the Republicans who want to "cap" malpractice law suits thereby putting a set price tag which some insurance companies may be willing to risk to save even more money providing substandard care. Look how much they are willing to lose with dropping peoples policies already. Blue Cross sued over cancelled policies L.A. city attorney accuses insurer of illegally rescinding 6,000 plans The Associated Press updated 5:16 p.m. PT, Wed., April 16, 2008 LOS ANGELES - The city attorney is seeking up to $1 billion in fines and restitution from the state’s largest health care insurer, charging Anthem Blue Cross with deceptive practices and unlawfully terminating policies when people needed health care most. Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said the insurer, formerly known as Blue Cross of California, illegally rescinded more than 6,000 insurance policies. Some of those policies affected elderly patients and some denied patients with health costs that topped $100,000. “Blue Cross hides from consumers the fact that if the consumer requires an expensive medical procedure, there is a significant likelihood that Blue Cross will cancel their insurance policy,” Delgadillo said Wednesday, the same day his office filed a lawsuit in Superior Court accusing the company of violating laws prohibiting unfair competition and false advertising. September 16, 2008 Health Net To Reinstate Canceled Health Insurance Policies in California, Pay Fine, Reimburse Former Plan Members For Denied Claims Health Net on Thursday agreed to reinstate coverage for 926 former members in California whose health insurance policies were canceled after they filed claims and to pay $3.6 million in fines, the Los Angeles Times reports. The company also will pay as much as about $14 million to reimburse expenses for medically necessary care that would have been covered had the policies not been cancelled. That is what they lost. The flip side is how much they stand to gain with their dropping of policies. "It’s True! Health Insurers Tell Congress They Cancel Policies of Sick Patients Category: Laboratory News, Laboratory Pathology Published: July 6 2009 Rescinding health policies of 20,000 people in past five years saved health insurers $300 million For years, Americans have heard news stories about the sick patient whose health insurance policy was rescinded in the midst of a health crisis. Now comes public acknowledgement—at a Congressional hearing no less—that this business practice exists! Executives from three of the nation’s largest health insurers admitted to this practice when testifying at a Congressional investigation recently. Observers believe the surprisingly candid acknowledgement about health insurance recessions pretty much guarantees insurers will be excluded from the health care reform debate. It may even ensure inclusion of a government health insurance plan in the final legislation which passes." What is needed is a non profit public option which would provide true competition thereby driving down the costs instead of the status quo which rewards fraudulant profits at the expense and lives of the enrollies of those insurance policies.
