Not getting birth certificate - lawyer cheated - chennai?

  • i approached a lawyer in chennai for getting my birth certificate..i even paid him 4k as initial advance.. but didnt get any invoice .receipt.. he hasnt responded yet...to my calls and didnt get me the birth certificate.. where do i complain about this lawyer..is there any bar association that i could complain..

    Your lawyer has cheated you by promising to get you the certificate. You could have contacted the Registrar of Births and Deaths directly and by furnishing the necessary proof (the hospitals certificate where the delivery took place) or by a sworn affidavit countersigned by a Notary Public, your certificate would have been issued. You pay a nominal fee by way of challan and a nominal tip say a couple of hundred rupees to the in -charge and you work is done.There is no use complaining against the lawyer over this issue as he is going to deny it outright. You were not advised properly in the matter.

You have no recourse. If you want to take action against the Lawyer, you might have to shell another around Rs.5K. Tor action only shows your calouse attitude of outsourcing your job to a Lawyer instead of sparing some time and approaching the Municipal Health Office or Panchayat Office, of the area where you wre born. Pleae take some time and visit the Panchayat Office/MunicipalHeqalth Office and you will get the job done.
