What is the present state of southern sudan?

Why should south sudan be a state?

  • Were arguing in my class why south sudan should be its own nation When ever it comes to me i never have anything to say so plz help ill take any information

  • Answer:

Religious differences of course, as it the root of many, if not all of the world's major, modern conflicts. The northern half of Sudan is mainly made up of Muslims. The south of Sudan is made up mostly of Christians. However since the Muslims virtually ruled the entire old country (Sudan), they abused their powers against the Christians since they didn't share their Islamic beliefs. A long and bloody civil war raged on for decades until 2005 when a peace deal was struck. From then on, it was only a matter of time until South Sudan as an independent state became a reality, which it did last year. Trouble still brews in both Sudanese nations but it's a small step towards achieving peace in the long-term.
