Official stats about agricultural outputs of Belarus, Ukraine between 1985-1990?
-
Hi, im looking for official stats about the agricultural outputs of Belarus, Ukraine between 1985-1990, stuff like tons of crops produced, number of cows and so one, loose of arable land due to Chernobyl, etc. I'm totally aware that this quest is almost impossible (thanks USSR for having hidden every valuable piece of information!) I found interesting stats of Belarus, but only after the fall of the iron curtain... Appreciate every kind of help!

All the sources are in Russian and Ukrainian(( Let google translate help you Ukrainian State statistics comittee gives data from 1990s http://www.ukrstat.gov.ua/ The USSR economy in 70 years, guide of the Soviet statistics comittee http://lost-empire.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7687&Itemid=9 Articles (in Ukrainian): * Problems of managent in agricultural industry in Ukraine (1980s) http://www.nbuv.gov.ua/portal/Soc_Gum/Nzvdpu_ist/2008_13/sekciya%20ykraina/ypravlinski%20problemu.pdf * Disproportion of agricultural industry in Ukraine (1980s) http://lib.kma.mk.ua/pdf/naukpraci/history/2005/37-24-10.pdf * Reasons of aggravation of a fod question in Ukraine (1970-80s) http://www.nbuv.gov.ua/portal/Soc_Gum/Npchdu/History/2003_14/14-23.pdf * Excerpt from the book about economic history of Ukraine and the world http://www.vuzlib.net/lanovik/123.htm * Article about agricultural industry from Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia http://leksika.com.ua/15070111/ure/silske_gospodarstvo Maybe the best way is to e-mail State statistics comittee or Ministries of economy and agriculture policy or (as to Ukraine) UkrISTEI http://www.uintei.kiev.ua/main.php , State archive http://www.archives.gov.ua/ It is possible to find government documents (laws, edicts, decisions etc.) of that time in the net but there are plenty of them concerning different aspects of economy and time periods (http://zakon2.rada.gov.ua/laws/main/help)

May be instead of blaming USSR you should learn Russian/Belorussian/Ukrainian language? Then the world will open you MUCH more than they usually say you about USSR? There was VERY detailed statistics that time since plan economy cannot survive without figures. And of course, it can be easily found on Internet. This is statistics yearbook, which covers almost all 70 years of USSR economics (until 1986-1987 for different indicators), including agricultural sector (in Russian language). http://lost-empire.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7687&Itemid=9 You need section "Agricultural sector" and there look what you need. Since it is html-format, use Goggle-translate tool to understand language. Since they are just regular terms, not sophisticated texts, you will understand everything. They give both general figures for all USSR and for republics separately. This is the same yearbook, but of 1991: http://lost-empire.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=433&Itemid=9 That is why you will find newer information for the same indicators as in previos book.
