Why doesn't the U.S. have mandatory vacation time?

We do. It's called welfare : )

Which is why their routine unemployment rates are 10%+, and ours aren't.

it does have manditory vacation it is called .....unemployment and it last sometimes 2 years...lol

First answerer got it right. That is Socialism my friend. The government doesn't dictate how businesses are ran here... unless you get "too big to fail". Then they'll fire your CEO and decide everything for you, ha! Ask yourself, if you ran a business wouldn't you like to run it the best way you see fit? Wouldn't you know best, seeing as you're the one there and running it and not some D.C. bureaucrat?

Europeans do get lots of vacation, but they pay alot more in taxes than us. They are keeping less of their money percentage wise than us. You can't eat your cake and have it too.

Because Big-Business dictates things in this country.

You can take all the vacation time you want here in the U.S. No one is stopping you from taking 4 weeks vacation a year, whats your beef? Oh, you want the tax-payers, or your employer to pay for those 4 weeks? Forget about it! You want 4 weeks vacation? Earn it through your employer like most tax-payers!
