Why do some asylum seekers take a boat instead of a plane?

Hello for any travel to foreign lands one needs a passport and along with it authorization from host country for entry ( Visa) most asylum seekers may not have passport on the basis and on the face of it the visa is stamped. Its easier to dodge emigration desk at seaports by boarding at high seas or in various dubious ways. I hope you understand now. That people flying may be detained at boarding stage itself or sent back embarkation. They are desperate to get out of the country to escape persecution or just need better living in other countries. Air travel is most risky for them.

-It's very difficult to sneak someone into a country by plane--you need an airport to land at. -It's very difficult to hide a plane from radar. -Smugglers bring people into a country in large numbers. A boat holds more people. -It's easier to pilot a boat than a plane. -An airworthy plane is a lot more expensive than a rusting hulk of a boat. -Illegal immigrants are desperate, and don't have a choice of transportation.

It's also to hide their true identity.

Because people are trying to escape, not join a bunch of tourists on a plane!
