How to tell my GF that i dont like watching horror films!?

  • So my Girl friend loves Horror Films but i get scared watching them. She feels that she is dropping a whole section of movies that she loves being with me. We fight ever time we talk about movies because of this. I feel its like if she was scared to ride a ride at a theme park i wouldn't ask her every day to ride it and get upset that she doesn't want to share that with me. I Am asking how to talk to her about this as an adult which we are and explain to her i will not watch them. I get scared and feel its got some spiritual aspects to it that i dont feel comfortable to watch. We do like other movies such as comedy and action films but she really enjoys horror films! She was in an abusive relationship a year ago so i am being nicer then normal! And i am not as firm as i normal would be. So i am asking how to tell her in the kindest way possible? P.s I am also in the Army and seen some stuff no one should and i know what the worst the world can be and i don't need or want to see more

    tell her she can pick you or the movies. if she picks the movies she is just a bad person! it's not like she can't watch them alone! a good girlfriend wouldn't make you watch things you're not comfortable with. It sounds like you have already tried kindly asking her, so maybe its time to be more firm about it.

honestly, she should understand. i feel the same way about scary movies, i really dont lik them. i stick to comedy and action films. the hangover, freakin hilarious.haha.. but anyways she cant get mad over it. you guys are a couple nd u guys are suppose to talk not scream or fight over these things. nd like u said ur in the army, explain to her that watching scary movies ticks ur soldier status.... flashbaks... idk... just talk to her... nd about the abbusive relationship imma be honest... shes taking a little advantage of u.... in a way.... i know its hard cuz she used to be in an abusive relationship... but its good that ur treating her rite nd respecting her... but if a gurl sees that her boyfriends is really nice nd doesnt fight back nd defends himself, or cant speak back.(im not saying fight or punch or nothing... thats a no no)... but if u dont shes gonna throw u around... nd ur gonna end up being pushed around.... its not just ur gurl in generall...im speaking for all the gurls that i know that have been in a relationship similar .... remember a relation ship is also based on EQUALITY....hope it helps...good luck to u and ur gurl.. I don't like horror movies either, just tell her it's not for you and if she doesn't understand she can date the movies instead!

Its just a movie, its not real life theres nothing to be scared of BUT if you really dont like watching them then just explain to her why and she should understand

Just tell her that this is not your preference for movies. She can also watch them on her own. If she digs for an answer, just say that they are disturbing to you.

Just try to make your feelings clear. Tell her how you feel and why. Tell her that you don't want to see violence like that because you've had enough of it in the real world. Focus on movies you both like. Find a not-so-scary horror movie or one with really fake graphics. Maybe Sweeney Todd. That one is also a musical. Watch some Tim Burton. It's not horror, but it's scary.

Tell yourself its just a movie and its made to scare you thats why its called a horror film. My husband doesnt like scary movies either but the zombie movies and the ones that involve a lot of action he doesnt mind, maybe you can come to a compromise with her about different types of horror films that you will watch and the ones you wont.. Like the ones with ghost and hauntings is pretty scary but most of the zombie movies have a bit of comedy in them so their not bad.
