How can I become an event-coordinator?

How can a young adult become independent?

  • I live in the middle of nowhere, have but one friend. I am home-schooled, can't drive yet, because I have to rely on my parents to teach me, talk about embarrassing. I have no other choice considering we are poor. I am getting ready to turn 19. I still can't have a job because my parents won't allow it, they say it would cost more having one and be far too stressful right now, as they have told me plenty of excuses since I was 15 about driving lessons and a job. I hate it. I hate relying and being dependent. I am naturally an independent person, but also can't stand rebellion. I am mature and have proved myself a woman good and well, my grades are straight A's, I am self ambitious, learning new things all the time, spend my time reading, learning, cleaning. Using my time as wisely as any adult. Though I hear excuses all the time why I can't do this or that and it frustrates me. I have to rely on them to look into financial aid and get into SAT testing, because I am not intelligent enough to figure that out yet myself. So, I am fully dependent. I can't even get out with friends, "because she's a bad driver, because she's on medicine, because she's a bad influence, because we don't have gas to get you in case of an emergency or money for this or that, because that would be rude to let her pay for you, etc. etc." So many excuses, and procrastinations. When can I do something for myself? When can I go out and enjoy life? Surely I am not going to live with them all my life and college and my career for nursing is a must, I can't rely on them always. What can I say? What can I do to prove to them I am not a mere child anymore without not supporting my own weight? They won't even let me have a job to further prove them how much stronger I am and how I do understand how the world is? Surely there is a way without being rude and without hurting feelings or making someone angry. I can't live my life at home or doing nothing and being the most invaluable and laziest adult.. it disgusts me. Please help me. Thanks.

Guess who! Haha :) Well, I hate to break it to you, but unless you move out and pay for your own living expenses, you cannot declare yourself an independent. The only way that works is if your parents make up less than 50% or so of your financial support. And seeing as you can't get a job, there's no way out of that. The easiest way to gain independence is to get married, haha. Sorry, but that's just how the system works. If your parents won't let you be independent while technically being dependent financially, then the only thing you can do is run away. It seems like a drastic measure, and is, but since you're 18 it's perfectly legal. You can wake up at 3 am, pack your bags, and leave, and the law will be on your side. If you did this, your parents would probably hate you, but if you want independence and they won't give it to you, then I don't know what else you could do :( ~ D

if you want to be independent then be independent. tell your parents you want to be. if they don;t understand your part then still do it. sometimes doing what you like is better than listening to your parents. its not being a rebel, its being the real you. prove to them that you can work for yourself and stuff. good luck! :) answer mine please? :) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjzKOiCaAOieetVU1OnD8XTsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120217185734AAeSpjH

Call both sets of grandparents and any cool aunts or uncles. Ask the grandparents for help and ask the aunts & uncles if they would be willing to take you in because of the situation. You can legally move out anytime. You just need to find someone who will give you a one year guarantee to put a roof over your head.
