How to spend a Halloween at home?

18 year old allowed to spend night out of home?

  • I'm a 18 year old male. I consider myself responsible - outside of my house I am well aware of what's right from wrong, although sometimes I don't do my share at home. I do not pay bills but I am still in highschool. My question is, being legally an adult, should I be allowed to spend the night at a friend's house (weekend) if I chose to? In my eyes, this seems more logical than coming home at 1-5 AM. It is much safer than having to drive home with whoever and risking ourselves. Yes I party and she knows this.. But I know my limit. So this weekend I chose to let my mom know I was gonna stay over a friend's house. She went off about not giving me permission but I ignored her and did it anyway. The next day when I came home it was like nothing had happened... I guess she thought it was fine and she had over reacted in the end. I am well aware of many people's "my house, my rules", however, I think that rule mostly concerns coming home late and such. That being said, I was just curious about other people's views on this. What do you think?

    I THINK YOUR ARGUMENT IS CORRECT.ALSO THAT YOUR MOTHER WAS HAVING A HARD TIME AND MORE OF AN ISSUE WITH HER NOT LITTLE BOY GROWING UP.ALSO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO MORE THAN THAT.PARENTS SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO GROW UP AND EXPERIENCE THE WORLD.GOOD LUCK BRO ON YOUR ROAD TO LIFE WISH THE BEST FOR YA.

Legally your cool but at this point its a respect thing. Do you respect your moms wishes enough to follow her rules under her roof? If not do your mom a favor and move out. either that or try talking to her about how you feel about being an adult. However when she starts talking to you about rent and doing your own laundry don't be surprised, besides if you want to convince yourself that your a big boy then maybe helping out around the house more is something you should do without her telling you. She is less likely to treat you like a kid if your acting like a man without her prompting you..

i think you are right if u really are as responsible as you say you are then u should be able to bassically do what u want cause i do think its better to spend the night at your friends house while your mom knows rather then coming home at 5:00AM.
