How can I stop making assumptions?

How to get my dad to stop making false assumptions?

  • Usually I get on fine with my dad, but I occasionally I get the blame for something that is clearly his fault. For example, my mum rang up ready to be picked up from work, she told me where she'll meet him and I told him that. 10 minutes later he comes home swearing (also exaggerating about being stuck in the car for 30 minutes) at me and calling me an idiot that she was not there and that I gave him the wrong directions Then my mum came home and corrected him, which he replied 'I was in the bedroom when he said it and couldn't hear him', when he was clearly in front of me. It has also happened with the ps3 we share, it started turning off while HE was playing it. Who got the blame? I did, without any proof or evidence. He does this on numerous occasions and even when he's proved wrong, after swearing and sulking for an hour, not even an apology, he just tries to sweep some of the blame on me still.. Moments like this makes me want to punch him, or even more which quite scares me.

  • Answer:

First you need to remember that he's your father whether what he's doing is right or wrong. I think you need to pick a day to sit down and talk to him calmly and see what his reaction is to all his "assumtions." If he is remorseful then everything should fix itself, if he isn't then you nedd to clean your A** with what he says.
