Am I allergic to my dog?

I'm allergic to my roommate's dog, but she won't get rid of it. What should I do?

• I live with three other girls and one of my roommates decided to take in her boyfriend's dog. I recently found out I'm allergic. I've never had dogs before so I just now got an allergy test done. I told her I'm allergic, but she says she can't get rid of it because she already paid the fee. In my apartment complex when you pay a pet fee, all of your roommates have to sign it. Me and my other roommates never signed a contract. When I told her about my allergy, her response to me was to get over it because the dog wasn't leaving. I called my apartment complex and told them about the dog, but nothing has been done. I'm miserable in my own house! This dog needs to go. I'm constantly sneezing and covered in a rash. The dog sheds everywhere (we have to clean every other day) and is tearing things up. We're going to have to pay for a pet none of us wanted when we move out. None of the other roommates want the dog here, but this girl won't budge. She lived in this place last year so she has this mentality that the apartment is hers and we're guests even though everyone's name is on the lease.

  Find out if the lease allows pets. If not, then have the landlord threaten to evict her. Also if it does not allow pets and your landlord will not respond make sure he understands you are capable and willing to break the lease in court.
