What are some fun things a young married couple can do for fun without spending tons of money?
-
So, I am getting ready to join the air force reserves because we need some extra help financially. My husband is now active duty. We have to go long periods of time without seeing each other, so when we are together we like being able to go out and have fun. These past couple of years have just happened so fast that I really haven't have much time to enjoy it. All I have been thinking of is the future, and planning for the future instead of really having fun. We spend way too much money on things, and going out and I really can't remember half of those times we went out. So, I really just want to have some fun with him, and enjoy our marriage. I think back of when we were in high school, and I cherish those memories because we enjoyed ourselves so much, and we didn't have much money at all..we were in high school. He worked part time as a bag boy!! We went out to dinner and movies a lot, but only on weekends. So, do you have any suggestions for me?

Congrats. You sound like you really know where you're going right now. The most fun things to do are so easy really. Depending on what you have when you have it changes the model a little bit. Depending where you're stationed a night out for dinner in an upscale local spot could be the best for the evening. The next available night could be spent getting chinese takeout and playing cards while talking. When you are both available after moneys in the bank you'll know what to do. It just develops. I wish you the best and hope you enjoy years of happiness.
Cheap things to do together...cook exotic dishes together (wash the dishes together after) Go biking together Go skating together Matter of fact I have found just doing chores around the house is fun with my guy...even cleaning out the car and washing it. You don't have to go "out". You just need to spend time together. Doing things together bonds you more than any fancy outing.
My husband and I just did this yesterday: We live in NY so we went into the city to look at the Christmas lights. The city was so busy, but we had such a great time together and with our daughter. We took pictures, went to Dunkin Donuts, rode the train. It was great. We said we want to make this our family tradition now. We have been in a rut lately but we are a young couple also, only married 3 years and we needed this. I hope you might like this. It's still holiday season so you can still do this for the next few weeks while people still have their lights up.
Find a common interest and absorb yourself in it!
good luck, everything cost a ton of money to do nowdays
swinging....)))
we like to play games, old school board games, we make home made appys..sometimes I like for him to plan a really special night, and sometimes I take it upon myself and plan him a special night, its the anticipation of him making all the plans that makes it so exciting!! Go for a really nice walk, or go hiking and take a camera and consider it a great photo opt....make a lunch or dinner to have in the woods or on the beach....loose yourself in the time your spending together. do you guys like to sing? go do karaoke, or meet each other at a local pub and pretend its the first time you've ever met. Think of something you really liked to do when you were younger...did you like to do arts and crafts? teach him and do that one night....did he like to go play hockey outside? or rollerblade..do that...teach eachother a new skill you have, or teach eachother a bit about you and your family, maybe make a dinner that's traditional for your culture
go to some caverns (about $50ea), or sky diving(i know dramatic, but you said different, costly though)), river rides(natural rivers, $25 ea), mall of america, Six flags! idk theres thing you can do that you only have to spend a bit, if you want cheap like less then $50 a day, then your only options are dinner and movies.
