Kenya spending money?

Should you split the leftover household spending money with your spouse even if they make a lot more money?

  • My husband and I have recently had some major financial changes. Due to a big change in daycare, paying off a car, refi'ing our house for a lower rate, and a promotion...we will have an extra $1800 to spend! We're thrilled about it, as we have a large family and could use the extra spending money. All of the extra money comes from my husband..his car is the one he paid off, his two children no longer are in daycare and he's getting a promotion. We're putting some of the money in savings, etc...but then the rest will be extra money. I kind of mentioned splitting the extra money, and he looked at me a little odd. Is it wrong to expect to split the money? I love him to death, and he usually isn't that way. He also has had some credit card issues in the past and doesn't make the best money decisions. To be honest, I'd prefer to have more control over the money to ensure that we spend it wisely. But, surely don't want to belittle him in the process. Suggestions?

So, instead of living within your means and putting aside money for future or emergency expenses, you want to just go spend it all? Yeah, I'd give you an odd look too. You want spending money, get a job.
