HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS ONLINE?

The thing is I'm doing a research project. Going come in a paper and hopefully on TV. is it possible to meet new people form diverse cultures and countries, become good friends with them. If it is where should i start and how to proceed.

I would go onto a global chat room and start talking with people and soon u will have personal emails and in time phone numbers. I live in the US and have a great friend in Canada whom I meet by mistake there email addy was one letter away from another Friends and I had a typo we talked for a few months exchanged info and 7 years later have meet and talk daily.

used to be this site worldkids or something, where kids from all countries could chat with eachotha, when i was younger i relle sure found some interesting answer and friends there from all over the world, site's in dutch (wereldkids) but i guess there must be an english version aswell!
