How To Make New Friends Online?

How to make new friends in 7th grade? (details below)?

• Today was my first day of 7th grade. I didn't really carry over a lot of friends from elementary to middle school, because I moved schools in the summer before 5th, and I really had trouble making friends in 5th grade. So basically I just made a few new friends in 6th grade. And those friends I made happened to be in ALL my classes in 6th grade, which was great. Now, in 7th grade, I don't know a single person in ANY of my classes, except this one girl who I'm friends with. How should I make new friends? Please DO NOT just say "Be yourself!" or "Just wait a bit!" or something like that. How should I start a conversation with someone in one of my classes? And how should I do this without sounding awkward or weird? For example, I'm not going to say "Hi, my name is _____. What's yours?" or just randomly out of nowhere "Hey how was your summer?". I guess I could try complimenting them on something they are wearing, but they would just smile and say thanks. How do I continue the conversation without being too random or awkward? By the way, I am a girl, I am very shy, I am not popular but I am not too much of a loser (still a bit more to the "loser" side, because I don't really have a lot of friends and I'm shy and I don't dress that trendy, but I'm friends with this kid who is popular, as in she is friends with A LOT of popular kids, and she is really pretty and dresses cute and all, and she is REALLY talkative). I find it really hard trying to make friends with people in my classes, since we don;t really have a lot of time to talk in class, and because almost all the girls in my classes are really popular, or they are really annoying losers. Remember how I said there was one girl in most of my classes that I was friends with? Well that girl is really outgoing and talkative, and I don't know how she does it, but now she has TONS of friends and she is friends with a lot of the "popular" kids in my class. Like every 7th grade girl is trying out for the volleyball team. I took like 2 classes in volleyball, but i SUCK. So I definitely won't be making it on the team. I guess I could do track, but I don't know who else will be doing it..... :( Also, how should I continue to keep in touch with my friends from other classes??? Because I feel I'm gonna lose touch with them :(( already starting to..... Please help! Thanks!

  Hey! Today was my THIRD day of 7th grade lol. I don't have many friends and today i got to sit near this girl in a table group in science I wanted to be pals with since I first saw her. Turns out she's a jerk! She made fun of me today and said it was creepy I knew her name! Anyway the first thing Im saying is don't think everyones just gonna be your pal. Sorry that was off subject I just feel normal now seeing someone a sevie too ;) Okay now, another thing is in classes if there is someone you wanna go for just say "may I sit here?" or something to sit next to them, and try to sayer a convorsation. I know you don't want to hear this but truely be yourself. I'm not gonna give you a step by step answer because you are your own person and should be original an try to find that path. Get to know some of your friends friends, dontPush people to much and just sit near others at lunch and start saying hey what's up? I don't know what to say really,., there's no way to get friends. You just got to see how things go! I'm sorry if I sound like a blabbering mouth! You probably think I'm annoying xD as for staying in touch with buds,.. Use facebook! Get there numbers on it!
