Why can't I talk to my friend on the webcam?

How do i talk to an online friend on the phone for the first time?

• She is a family friends daughter who lives in England, and since i live in NZ i consider her an online friend as that's the only way we can communicate. We talk on msn each and every day for hours and use webcam ( but no sound ) and we text each other a lot also. But her birthday is coming up soon. And since i cant really do anything else for her, i thought i might call her on the phone to say happy birthday. We have both talked about talking on the phone but both of us are too shy to do it. How can i be confident and be able to wish her a happy birthday and not freeze up and be like "errr ahhhh ummm hmmm yeahhh sooo? ... " how do i make it easy and open it up for us both so we aren't shy? i am also going to England next year to see my cousins and i have been invited to stay with my online friends family by her mother ( she thinks im a wonderful boy ^^ ) but i would rather have talked on the phone first and be able to open up, rather than first time talking to her ( other than typing or txting ) at the airport.. btw i do consider her a really good friend. One who knows more about me than my old friends.
