What is Prom exactly?

What made prom memorable to you?

• I'm a junior this year, and all my friends are so excited for prom night, and I don't even like prom. And I think the reasons are because the juniors had they're prom last year and had an extra invite and the principal wanted me to come and they didn't invite me cause they don't like me, they're b*tches and they organized the who prom, another reason is because I found out that they spent 290K on the prom, and the girls didn't even calculate right and had to borrow 100K from our principal cause they didn't have enough and they cried about it, and I think the money was from school funds cause my principal is so cheap, and what pisses me off is that our white board in class fell down and they just nailed it back up even if it isn't stable anymore and our principal wouldn't even buy a new one. I swear when I went to high school I saw how the school funds wasn't being used properly and I wanted to offer to do taxes and manage the schools finances since I'm good at math. And the thing is…I don’t know why these should bother me so much. I don’t even plan on going to prom since I don’t want to spend money on a dress but then my sister gave me one, another thing is when I see the place I feel like it’s gonna hurt cause I’ll probably go like “OMG, Look at all the money put into this and it’s only for a night!” and I’ll probably start calculating all night, and the only thing that makes me think twice is my guy friend/best friend who is the most popular boy at school is begging me to come. He goes like “Come on! We want to nominate you from prom queen!!” and I just roll my eyes, thinking that he’ll just influence people to vote for me cause of his social stat. Anyway, I know I’m sounding like a no fun person but I am fun to hang out with, it’s just that, this angry side or me doesn’t make sense like I shouldn’t care about the schools finances, and all that stuff. And don’t even think about saying “Tell the planners/ the principal my concern” TRUST ME, they wont listen.

  Well, for one night, try not to think about the money. I know prom is foolish, the money can be used better but the fact is that it isn't so you might as well make the best of it. By the way, what made my prom memorable was that the guy I went with as a friend kissed me for the first time that night. We've been together for over a year now. And to think, I almost didn't go!
