Is sonography worth getting into?

Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree...confused.?

  • I'm interested in becoming an ultrasound tech, but I'm not sure what kind of degree is right for me. I went to http://www.caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/ and searched schools in Georgia. However, some schools in Georgia offer Baccalaureate degrees, Associates degrees, and certificates, and diplomas. I'm just getting out of high school and want to know what kind of degree I should pursue. There's only one school that offers an Associates for sonography in Georgia, and it's about 2 hours away. What should I do? Thanks for any help.

  • Answer:

I work in Radiology currently and I only have an Associates. I thought about Ultrasound myself. Are they the only school that offers any degree in ultrasound? Either way you'd most likely want to stick to associates or bachelors if you can. The certificate is good too but I'd stick to an actual degree. A Bachelors isn't necessarily going to make a difference. You'll just have a higher degree. So both are good as long as you get a great education. You'll be just as experienced with either. Hope that helps a little! Good Luck!
