How do i apply for Medical or Medicare?

Medicare is a health insurance program for those 65 and over and those receiving Social Security Disability for 2 years or more. Medicaid or Medi-Cal in California is for those who are very low income. If you do not fall into one of these categories you will need to purchase private insurance

Here in the east we have Medicare instead of Medical. Medical is a state program so you will have to go to your local Medical office. Here in Indiana it is in the same office where you get food stamps. Medicare is a Gov't. program and you will have to go to your local Social Security office to apply for that. So Medical and Medicare are two different programs. Usually people get Medicare when they are disabled or on Social Security due to their age. If your boyfriend is disabled he can get SSD (Social Security Disability) and will get Medicare with it. He will have to apply for disability at your local Social Security office and also apply for Medical wherever their office is. If it isn't where you get food stamps they will know where you can apply. Hope this helps some. Terry
