Why did my nose start to bleed?

• I was in 1st period french today and I felt something come down my nose. So, I check and then I see blood. I was like wtf? It wasn't hot inside the class, it was actually really cold. I excused myself to the bathroom and the bleeding didn't stop for the whole period. In 3rd, my nose bleed again. I was like what the? I kind of sick. Well, I have allergy's. When I got home I told my mom and she said maybe I should to the doctor. ;o Why did my nose start to bleed anyways.

  Nosebleeds can occur for a variety of reasons. The most common cause is dryness of the lining of the nose. This can be due to dry air (outside or inside). Using a humidifier while at home indoors would help. Use a little dab of vaseline just inside each nostril - this can also help. Another reason you have already identified would be allergies. The allergies themselves might be the problem, but the treatment of allergies can also be the issue. Antihistamines tend to dry up your nose (as well as mouth and eyes) as a side effect. Again, the measures noted above should also be a help. Having a cold or sinus infection can also result in nosebleeds. When you have a nosebleed, lean forward so the blood does not go down your throat. Pinch your nose hard just below where the bony part is. Don't let up the pressure for at least 5 minutes. If it continues to bleed, hold for another 5 minutes. If you continue to have a bleed after all of this, you need to go see a doctor and either get your nose cauterized, or in the worst case scenario, have it packed. After your nose stops bleeding, don't blow your nose, pick it, and try not to sneeze for at least 24 hours. There are a number of medical issues which are related to nosebleeds, which are too numerous to go into here. You should probably see an Ear Nose & Throat specialist if you keep having bleeds.
