How do I get rid of a congested nose?

How to get rid of a stuffy nose and plugged, slightly sore ears?

• I know I'm allergic to something (I'm waiting to get an allergy test done, my doctor is making the appt) and I've had a slightly stuffy nose since the end of February. A few days ago, it got a lot worse, to the point I couldn't breathe out my nose, my throat was very sore and my ears felt plugged. The sore throat has kind of gone away (it comes and goes), but the stuffy nose and plugged ears won't go away. I've tried Benadryl and Clairiton, but neither give me relief for more then a few hours. Also sometimes when I swallow water or a drink, it feels like there's a piece of food (best way to describe the feeling, sorry) trying to go down my throat as well and I'm not sure what this is and it causes a bad taste in the mouth (it's more present if and when I cough and when I sneeze). I just want to get rid of the stuffy nose, cause I have a feeling that's what's making my ears feel plugged. I'm afraid if I don't get rid of it all now, I'll get an ear infection. My ears are a little sore now (not very painful, just uncomfortable). My stuffy nose keeps me awake at night, when I'm lying in bed, and I've been using Breathe Right Nasal Strips, which also help to a point (the strip usually falls off after a few hours and I'm also not 100% sure if I'm using the right size, I got them free in a box of cold medicine last year). I don't know whether it's bad enough to see a doctor, I can't see my regular doctor till sometime in July, so I would be going to a walk-clinic.
