Is positional vertigo dangerous?what are the causes for such a vertigo?

What causes severe vertigo?

  • I've been having real bad dizziness and vertigo for the past couple of months now. It's so bad that I can't stand up or walk well without feeling like I'm falling over, and even when I'm sitting down I feel like I'm swaying and will tilt to the side a little. Does anyone know what causes this and if there's something that can be done about it? I'd really like to be able to just walk again without stumbling and being worried I might fall.

  • Answer:

Go to your Dr. and have a check up. It may just be that you have some type of malnutrition going on. Every 28 days when I was young, I used to get just a little dizzy. But you're having an awful time. Are you eating enough? Go to your doctor, and soon.

There are a number of things which could be causing this. The fact that you even feel it when sitting tells me that it's more likely to be central, or brain based. Does it happen when lying down? Make an appointment with your primary doc and ask about getting some imaging done. If tests come back normal and you're still feeling bad, find a functional neurologist near you. They'll have the best chance of fixing it without putting you on medications for the rest of your life.

Your inner ears may be plugged, and the liquid in your ears can't equalize, so you have dizziness and lack of balance. Your brain may also have something wrong with it, though I doubt it. My Mom has severe vertigo all the time, and it is because she has developed super sensitive ears over the years. Some people are simply really susceptible the dizziness. Go to the doctor to get some medication for it, but have someone else drive you. We don't want any car accidents!

There could be so many things that could be causing this from poor nutrition, low blood pressure, dehydration to a problem with your inner ear apparatus or worse (probably unlikely) a brain tumor. You should see a doctor though so that he/she can make sure it is nothing too serious. It is better to be safe than sorry.
