What is up with my throat?

What can I do to get rid of my cough and help my throat that nothing else has helped?

• I work in a nasty, dusty airport with people coughing everywhere. 1 year and 9 months there, so far. They cough out into the air without covering their mouths and do all kinds of nasty stuff. I've had all types of things from chicken pox to viruses/colds/etc. Strep throat about 7 times at least. 2 months ago, I started feeling really down. My energy was completely drained. I was dragging around, I had a very sore throat. I went to my then-primary care doctor. They gave me antibiotics without a strep test. I went back a week later and was worse than when I first came. They again gave me another kind of antibiotic. I went back the third week with a partially paralyzed voice - they explained to me that because I didn't have insurance, the first two times they gave me a 'kids dose' so it would cost less. The third time, they gave me a much stronger antibiotic. Obviously, I complained and got my money refunded for the first two visits. The third antibiotic didn't work. I lost confidence in their ability because they did and said a lot of really off-the-wall things. I found a new primary care doctor. I was a month into whatever I was dealing with, by that time. I went to him, and he said that he didn't think it was strep related after 3 different rounds of antibiotics. I explained to him the weird stuff they did at the other primary care place, told him the names of the meds and the dosage, etc. I also told him that I work in a dusty airport with lots of germs. He thought I may have had mono, but I had no swollen lymph nodes. He did blood tests for platelet counts, mono, etc. Nothing. All was well. Checked my ears, breathing, temperature, etc...all of the normal stuff. He figured by then it would gave gone away. I went back to him the other day, because for the past week to week and a half, I've developed this massive itching within my throat that makes me cough a lot. I cough up these sometimes quarter-sized globs of green goo, which seems to come from my sinuses and gets stuck in the back of my throat. My throat itches from the patches on it and the phlegm in it. I told the doctor this. He did a rapid strep test just to make sure - negative. I've had a sore throat with elongated white and red patches on it every day for about two months. It hurts quite a bit some mornings after I first wake up. Now, for a week and a half now, I haven't been able to stop coughing up this phlegm and having a constantly itching throat that is sore sometimes. I mean it itches all of the time. I've even had trouble sleeping because the reflex wakes me up to cough from the itching. The doctor said at my visit the other day that while I do not have "typical allergy symptoms"...he thinks it's an allergy. He put me on predisone (even though he said my throat 'didn't look that red')...prednisone is a steroid for swelling. I have a week of that, and a month of Zyrtec. So far, I see no improvement a few days into it. He has pretty much given up and doesn't know what else to do. He told me to see an ENT specialist, though he said he knows that would be very expensive since I have no insurance. He thinks it's an allergy. However, he said he saw no signs of infection. The other day, my right contact got really blurry because I apparently had green gunk coming up out of one of my eye drains and going into my eye...I presume directly from my sinuses somehow. So I would reach up and wipe my eye, and have these little green balls. So I have these miserable coughing and itchy throat symptoms daily and nobody knows what it is or how to treat it. What do I do now?

  go to ur local health food store and ask them what you can do. personally i would suggest oregano oil, just a few drops under the tongue a few times a day. helped me alot with my allergy-like sinusy symptoms
