Well, I live in California......but I'm 14, and I have a job. Here's how I did it. I asked around, and finally found a little kids gymnastics place that said they would be willing to hire me because i dance and like kids. They hand you an employment form, and some tax forms which you then fill out with your parents, and then you go to your district office, and they give you a work permit application, which has three parts:one for you to fill out, one for your future employer to fill out, and one for your current school to fill out. Then you take it back to the district and they give you your work permit , which you give to your employer, and then they're allowed to pay you. You'll probably have to make quite a few phone calls. Also the permit will expire after a season, and you'll have to get all of the signatures again. Annoying, but worth it. Like here minimum wage is $7.50 an hour. Oh, and you'll have a curfew and a limit to how many hours you're allowed to work, depending on weather or not you have school. Another idea, is to make friends with an independent thrift store owner. If you put in volunteer times, that'll look really good on applications, and in my experience, they'll probably give you free stuff or even let you sell some of your stuff in the shop for a part of the profits, although you should check the legality of that in your county. Or, if there's a place you really want to work, but that doesn't want to hire you, see if you can volunteer for a few weeks first to gain their trust. sooo....I hope this helps you in canada.........Have fun and good luck! P.S. The youngest age you are allowed to have a work permit here is 14, then when you turn 15, your hours get extended. and just fyi, my employers said that they wanted to hire me mostly because when we were talking, I smiled a lot and looked like I wanted to be there. Its ok to be nervous, but if you look miserable in an interview, nobody will want to hire you
Nice huh? *cough*Taylor*cough* I think pet stores let young teenagers work there. Ya know, caring for the animals, feeding them, washing them, etc. Last year when I was 12, my friend and I applied for a job at our local pet store, and we got it. They let us feed the puppies and kittens, and wash them in the back of the store. We got 10 dollars an hour, and we worked there for 4-5 hours a day. Oh and you cant work at fast food restaurant. There is a strict law against it, saying that kids can burn themselves or something. It is a really bad idea to consider it at all really.
There's not a lot of places where you can apply for a job at that age, because in many places, the working age limit is 16 years. I don't live in Canada, though, so maybe it's different there. If it is, write up a resume (look up how to write one), go around town, and pass them out to possible employers that you might want to work for. People might not take you in, because you have no prior experience (I'm guessing). But don't feel dejected! Keep trying! Walk around your mall or around the stores in town to ask if they accept younger employees. You can probably try places like small businesses (like local pet stores or small boutiques) and tutoring places (if you get good grades). Sometimes, smaller businesses are more willing to pay a little less for younger teens (sorry, you probably won't get as much compared to older people working in larger stores, because they are of age). If you get good grades and you're in advanced classes at school, you can try to tutor people. Check your local library and schools to see if they have any tutoring programs there that might need an additional tutor. You can also start your own tutoring business. Print out a sheet with your name and phone number on it, and put it up on bulletin boards around town. People might see it and call you up to see if you can tutor their kids. Make sure your prices aren't that great (around $10 an hour is a good starting price) since you don't have any college degrees or anything. You can also check out books on starting own businesses. If you're good at art or anything, you can start stores online, and people will actually buy things from you. Whatever you do, be creative and emphasize your talents in your resume. It'll up your chances of getting a job.

I'm sorry I have no idea about Canada, I'm in California. However it will be extremely difficult for someone your age to find a job. I'm 15 and I've found at the stores I tried to apply for a job you have to be 16-18.
