Don't stress! I know it's hard not to do but really, it's nothing to worry about. The interviewee will know you're nervous so don't worry about showing it. Just be yourself and be as honest as possible. They will ask you questions like, Why do you want to work here? and What do you feel you can bring to this store? Truth is, there is no right or wrong answers. Just explain to them what you truely think. Tell them what qualities you have and explain the reasons you applied there. Surely you must have some idea of why you want to work there. One tip on answering questions is not to take ages and say "um...", "ahhh..." "i don't know" because it looks unproffesional and shows a lack of communication skills that the employer will probably want you to have for customer service. As for what to wear, I'd suggest wearing either very NEAT casual or get some black work pants and try to look semi-formal. Don't wear a top with writting on it and make sure you smell good. A nice purfume will help make you stand out. In the end, just remember that this is basically a competition between you an the other people going for a job. You have to prove that you are more worthy that other people. Make yourself stand out. Be over-friendly and bright. Don't forget to use your manner either. GOOD LUCK!

Do a google search for "business casual", go to their images link, browse the photos. Iron your clothes and shine your shoes. Trim and clean your nails. If you're a boy, get a haircut and trim or shave off all facial hair. Visit the store and see what the employees are wearing. If they're all in suits and ties, then up your wardrobe to business attire. Now is not the time to wear the baggy gang-banger pants or the muffin-top tight jeans. First impressions mean everything. Be early. You would rather be waiting 30 minutes early out front instead of being even 1 minute late. Give a firm handshake and look your interviewer in the eye. Don't slump or shuffle. Remember their name and use it often. Depending on how they introduce themselves, use the same name they introduce themselves with or use Mr. or Ms. (last name). They have already read your application so they know what's on there. They want to know, and your job is to inform them: 1- why you want a job at their company, why a retail store? 2- why should they hire you and not the other applicants. 3- that you're honest, energetic, and intelligent. To address 1, familiarize yourself with the store's products and clientele. Look at the store's website if it's on the internet. Go to their corporate website and look up their mission statement and values. Memorize some of the phrases and words from the mission statement and values and use them during your interview. Tell them you have always had positive experiences as a customer at their store, you want to get involved in the business world, and you can't wait to join a high quality retail team such as theirs (Definitely use the word team). On point 2 - one of the biggest convincers for interviewers is enthusiasm. Smile, look them in the eye, use hand gestures, sit up in your seat, don't fidget. You're demonstrating your demeanor that you would use with customers. This brings up the biggest thing of all - customers. You are customer-oriented. Your goal for their store is to ensure satisfied customers - before, during, and after the sale. Finally, employers want a committment. They want a team member (and whenever you refer to yourself in the interview you should use the words 'team member') who shows up to work on time, listens and implements the things they are taught, sets the example for other employees, and responds willingly to requests, even at some sacrifice to time off. 3 - honest, energetic, intelligent. These above all other traits and values are prized by employers. Make sure you weave these words into your conversation with your interviewer. As for questions, one of the best things you can do is make a connection with your interviewer, get them talking about themselves. Ask about their role in their company... it might be assistant manager or something (try to find out first), and express an interest in becoming a manager yourself someday. Ask how they started out in the company, or career field, and how would they recommend a young person such as yourself map a career progression into management in the store. Even if this is just a summer job you can give the impression you'll be back to join their team after high school. If you are the assertive type, then by all means complement the interviewer on the interview, stating that you were comfortable and that you feel you were able to present yourself well to the company. Other questions: When will I start? Or, when will I hear back from you? When are the high and low seasons for the business? Are there any new or exciting product lines that will be introduced soon? What department will I be expected to work? Can I have a tour of the store and meet some prospective co-workers? Finally, go to the library and read a book about interviewing. There's almost too much info out there, but you will be miles ahead of where you are now if you read a book. Good Luck!

Dress well, do not show up in a brand name shirt. Wear a plain shirt with a long sleeve over top, make sure that you and your breath smell. Do not look at the floor, and have good posture don't be starring around the room fiddling with your hands. And if he asks you something answer well and honest . You don't want to lie and say you can do something when you can't, because if he calls on you to do it and you can't it will look really bad.

sometimes what they do is ask easy questions just to get you going (most of the time) then the questions theyll ask you wont be too hard because its just a part time job so dont stress over it, if you dont get it you can always try somewhere else. notice how they dress and try to dress the same way for the interview just dont over do it.

alot of people ask you where you see yourself in 10 years

What type of retail store is it? If it is a trendy clothing store, walk by and look at the displays in the window and try to emulate the style you see there. Some retail clothing stores will want you to buy and wear their clothing after you begin working there. Of course you will receive a discount, but if you are working to try to earn and save money, don't fall into the habit that since you get a discount, you should just buy, buy, buy. Have some sort of resume with you even though this is your first job. List classes that you have taken that would be helpful in this job. Make eye contact with your interviewer and shake his or her hand when you meet them. They will probably ask you what you consider your strengths and weaknesses. They are most definitely looking for someone who is friendly and likes people and can engage someone who comes into the store in conversation. Make sure you research the company to find out the history of the store (how many there are, where their headquarters is, what their target market is (who their intended customer is), and as much general information as you can. Knowing about the company shows that you care about where you work and it will impress the person interviewing you. As far as questions to ask, ask how many people work there, what your duties will be, how you will be evaluated.

Do not eat your dirty undies in the interview!

Just don't worry too much. I have gone through two interviews and received the jobs. They want to make sure that the employees can keep their cool while still being professional. What to wear: stay modest, that doesnt mean full suit. Keep your style to show your personality. If you want some help go to whowhatwear.com and watch the segment on interviews. They will ask you why you want to work there. What kind of person you are. What is prior experience (it is okay if you dont have any). And tell them about yourself. Ask them what they are expecting of you. And when they will get back to you.

dress business casual (that's what most places say) they may not ask you too many super important questions, but just be professional && as for the questions...i always ask about pay & hours...unless they mention it first. you don't have to ask questions but it makes you seem interested good luck!!

It's going to just be with a store manager more then likely so just go in and be confident. We were all nervous at our first job interview so that's natural. They'll ask just simple questions like stuff about you, why you want to work for our company, etc. Dress nice but not overly nice. Can't give tips on what to wear since I'm a guy. lol. I've actually never really asked any questions at the end of the interview that I planned to ask, they just pop into your head as the interview goes on. It's at a retail store so as long as you just act like you have a head on your shoulders, nice, and you have common sense it's all yours. You'd be surprised by the number of bums I've seen get interviewed. More then likely it won't last more then 10-15 minutes. You'll be okay though. Good luck!
