How long does it take for an appendix to burst?

• what's the average time that it takes an appendix to burst after the onset of pain? Because about a half hour ago I began getting a dull pain all over my abdomen and now it's a much sharper pain in my lower right quadrant that occasionally radiates down towards my vaginal area. It's so bad it hurts to move. At first I thought it was gas but going to the bathroom hasn't helped. It's 11:22 PM here and I'm in my dorm. Should I call my parents?
