What do I do if my ear is infected.?

  • My mom put a small clean twig in my year after my cartilage piercing got infected. She said in the village when you ear got infected they put a twig in because you could take it out and clean the ear and it will keep your ear open. She said the twig won't infect my ear. Is this true or should I just take out the twig and clean it? But I prefer to keep the perceiving open.

    Anything in there will keep it open-- I know lots of people who use little twigs -- almost like hay straw-- makes it easier to get out than working with an earring. Id just make sure you put alcohol on the front and back part of your piercing site. Also I'd wait a couple days AFTER you think its better to put earrings in... Just in case! Make sure the earrings you use are clean- I reccomend putting them in a tiny bit of alcohol right before you stick em in. If worse comes to worse go to your Dr for a prescription of antibiotics...usually isnt that bad... But you never know!Hope that helps! I HATE when my ears get sore!

Go to a doctor, clinic or hospital. Infections anywhere in or on your head can be serious. They are way to close to your brain. So they are nothing to mess with. They can also lead to a perforated ear drum or some kind of damage. I had to have surgery to relieve the pressure of the fluid when I was in Preschool. Had a ton of the since. I now have a regular routine I follow now. No cold drinks room temp or hot. Drink lots of fluids. Use Afrin or something like it to keep my sinuses open and use saline nasal spray to flush out the nasal passage. I also take the maximum dosage of antihistamines and turn on the humidifier. I use to follow that with copious quantities of alcohol until that got in the way of the other steps. That has kept me out of the Doctors office more often than not. Before this routine I use to get them almost every winter and/or spring.
