What is leprosy?

What is wrong? can someone of 65yrs old get leprosy how ? and what are the causes?

• i have got a father of 65 yrs old who has fallen sick leprosy, sicne he was a small boy he has never gotten sick such sickness. what has gone wrong with him and i can i do to help him get well again? in our familly there is no cases which has been reported for such sickness before from our fore fathers. what can i do to see my father healed ? does such sickness has cures? and what are cures ? when he falls sick he starts biting his torque and the whole body becomes very hard and he become unconscious, he can fall even four times,the place he stays the weather is not hot, is cold but not so cold does it mean when is hot it will be worse? what are precations on such cases of biting and body been hard? what is the right first aid of such person? does leprosy has cure? what is the right medince for him. can anybody get that sickness at any age and how and why? i needs help from you and i will appreciate very much.   Leprosy is a contagious infection. You can only get leprosy if you have had contact with someone else who has leprosy or is carrying the bacteria. It is very rare in most parts of the world, although there are still many developing countries where it is a problem. If your father is displaying symptoms of leprosy than he most likely came in contact with the bacteria 3-5 years ago. There are treatments available, but you must consult a doctor. Your fathers symptoms do not match up with those of leprosy, which usually involves skin rash and eye problems, eventually leading to the lose of fingers and toes. I have never come across anything that implicates biting oneself. Did a doctor give you this diagnoses?
