Could this be Carpal tunel syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

  • About a 2 months ago i started experiencing numbness and pain in my fingers when i was at work. I have a desk job so my daily routine consists of going to papers and data entry on the computer. About a month ago i had decided to go get this checked out as i didn't think it was that serious. The doctor said i had carpal tunnel syndrome. He gave me a prescription for stints to wear at night and some motrin to take about 3 times a day. Since i had went to the doctors a month ago my wrists and fingers feel like they have gotten worse. Today at work my fingers had felt like i had stuck them into the freezer for 20 minutes and i it hurt to move them and they started turning purple due to lack of blood flow. Since none of the above have worked to help the carpal tunnel, what would be the next step for the doctor to do? As i said, this is my job and i can't stop what im doing and my doctor understood that. It also feels like within the past 2 months it had gotten worse very fast and I'm guessing its due to the cold since it started in August and is now November. Please help. What would be the next step to help Carpal Tunnel???

Hi if the splints are not helping you at all and your hands are feeling cold turning color you sound like you are needing surgery on your wrists. Good Luck.

i know this sounds weird... but someone once told me that carpal tunnel can be caused by tense muscles in the shoulder/neck region. i thought it was weird but they said that, that is what happened to them and they got it fixed. before you go to the extremes of getting surgery. try going to a chiropractor or getting a massage. you may also want to try physical therapy. good luck in finding relief.

Tell your doctor what you've told us. How did the doctor determine that you have Carpel Tunnel? The definitive test is a nerve conduction test, where they stick a needle into different parts of your hands and give you a mild electric shock. When your hands were very cold today, were your fingers white? Did they turn from white to blue to red? It sounds to me like you have Reynard's Syndrome.

I wouldn Blame it on the cold although I guess it could make it worse? And your doctor may "understand" about yor job Well Im no doctor and understand this is your job But you have to understand this is your health your talking about. Do YOU understand what can happen? It doesn't stop at numb fingers. Things can get totally worse! At least start by investing in all the ergonomic whatchamacallits that are available for you Please do a little research on it you may have allot to loose and your health is most important. Good luck!
