What are the chances of me becoming an alcOholic?

  • I know that genes play 50% chance in becoming an alcoholic. I am curious exactly how much of a chance I have of becoming an allcoholic from a genetic Perspective only. Both of my grandfathers were alcholics (dads and moms side), I don't know anyone else in my family who are alcoholics (I have no clue about my dad, he doesn't exist in my life. So with only my grandfathers being alcoholics does that mean I have 25% of genetic predisposition? Please let me know in number only. I will not take responses such as "it depends" or "environment has an influence too" I know all of this. How much percentage chance do I have of becoming alcoholics. Based on genes alone? Serious answers only please

Seriously, genetics play a much smaller role in this than people give them credit for. But, genetically speaking, if there is 1 alcoholic gene, and both of your grandfathers had it, your 50 % likely to get it from one or the other, and 25% likely to get both.
