Can you develope lactose intolerance all of a sudden?

Lactose Lactase Intolerance non-persistence. Which is which?!?

  • I'm trying to read up on Lactose intolerance but they keep changing the words they use to describe it and it's pretty confusing. I know that Lactose Intolerance == Lactase non-persistence, but then they start talking about Lactose Persistence/non-persistence. My guess is: Lactose Intolerance == Lactase non-persistence == lactose persistence Is this anywhere close to being right?

  • Answer:

im not familiar with those exact terms but i can tell you that lactose is the sugar you can not break down with lactose intolerance. lactase in the enzyme which break down lactose, so if it does not "persist" or exist in your body then you would be lactose intolerant i would assume
