Why is my tongue sore?

Please help me find out why my tongue burns when I rinse with listerine, my lips are dry, my throat is sore.?

  • I am 41 yrs of age, went on a date (ate spicy shrimp, craw fish, crab legs) kissed my date (a man) on April 6, 2008, a couple of days later my tongue was burning so I rinsed with Listerine, then my tongue felt as if it was on fire. This "fire" feeling lasted for a few days and slowly subsided. About a month later, I had what I thought was a sinus infection (symptoms were like a cold). My lips and mouth still feel infected, dry, burning sensation after rinsing w/Listerine but not as bad as 2 months ago, but still noticeably not a normal feeling after brushing my teeth. I looked up mononucleosis on line and I don't think I have all of the symptoms. What could this be? I have two small children, who like to eat and drink behind Mommie, I have had to stop them from doing that because I don't know if I have caught something contagious or if I am having an allergic reaction to seafood. What is this? What can I do? Please help me. Thank you.

  • Answer:

i feel the same. what i did was i just minimized using listerine. Don't rinse everyday. just brush thoroughly. listerine somehow irritates your mout and gives you burns if you use it too often.
