Who has had "burning foot syndrome?

Is it Raynaud's syndrome in one foot?

  • I recently had a partial tear in my ACL that I did not get surgery on. I've started to have really poor circulation in that same foot and I went to a doctor and they told me it was Raynaud's syndrome. He told me to cut out medication I take for ADD so I stopped taking it for awhile and it made no difference. Nothing seems to help it that they are suggesting and I am starting to wonder if it is something else besides Raynaud's that may be related to the knee injury because it seems weird that it is only noticeable in the one foot. When I went to the doctor they did an ultrasound to check for a blood clot and said that the arteries in my ankle to my foot were really constricted in that one foot but they didn't find any blood clot. That was almost 6 months ago. Is it possible that it is something besides Raynaud's syndrome? I have calf pain every so often and is it possible they may have missed a blood clot?

  • Answer:

Anything's possible, but every alternative is unlikely. Other diseases could cause constricted blood vessels, and it is possible that you could have developed a blood clot in the last 6 months since it's been checked, however it isn't the blood clot that is causing the restriction it would be the raynauds that would be causing the clot. It is not unusual to only have raynauds in certain areas, and it is particularly common for it to be in the hands or feet. Raynaud's is one of those things that is hard to help. I think it would be wise to see your doctor if you worried, but in general, keep that foot warm and comfortable to prevent further damage to it.

It is definitely possible that they could have missed a blood clot. If I were you I'd go to a different doctor and get a second opinion.
