How long does it take to correct astigmatism?

An astigmatism now? why?

  • i asked a question before about an astigmatism but i just thought of another. i am 18 and this past year i noticed something was off. why did it take so long for me to realize my vision isn't the best? if an astigmatism just has to do with an irregular shape wouldn't i of always realized something wasn't right if i was born with an irregular shaped cornea? i was just curious.

  • Answer:

an astigmatism can occur over time, not necessarily born with it, vision changes dramatically in your 40's/50's. I used to read very small print without glasses, now, I need readers and that changed from 1.25 to 2.50 within 2-3 yrs. I wouldn't fret about the astigmastism. nothing to worry about.
