When you faint from anemia?

Can anemia cause weight loss? I'm really afraid for my GF?

• I've noticed that my girl has lost a lot of weight since high school..which was 3 years ago... She was never really huge but she was never really thin neither... before she was wearing a size 7-8 pants which would fit her really tightly. Then one day her attitude started changing.. .. and down the line i start seeing she was losing weight ... Last time we went shopping together which was last christmas... I asked what size pants she wear.. she told me a 5-6... ... when i first saw her in a pair of pants i bought her that were a 5-6.. they fitted her well... She have on those same pants today and they are now very loose... this is what caused me to ask this question.. She is just as concerned about the weight loss as am I, she's been to the doctors.. they checked her thyroid but nothing. They checked her blood which showed that she had a low red blood cell count... They did a test and concluded that she has anemia... further more her father has sickle cell anemia.. so they said no matter how much vitamins or iron pills they subscribe her.. her anemia will always be there because she carry the trait from her father..She bought some over the counter iron pills but they would hurt her stomach so she stopped taking them... I really dont know what to think.... her arms are very thin... and it seems her legs are gettin smaller day by the day..She's always sleeping.. she look faint somedays... I have watched her eat.. .and when she do.. its like she's been starving... she's always saying she's hungry but never really can finish all of her food.... I was just wondering can anemia cause this drastic weight loss...and other symptoms .... or could it be something more serious?
